Viime viikolla osalla oppilaistani oli jo viimeinen tanssikerta, ja se sattuikin vapunaattoon joillekin ryhmille. Lapset oli puettu hurmaaviin rooliasuihin, ja he näyttivät todella suloisilta tanssiessaan asuissaan. Jos joku olisi kurkistanut salin ovesta, niin olisi nähnyt minikokoisten leopardien, elefanttien, Minni-hiirien, leppäkertun ja monien muiden tanssahtelevan vanhempansa kanssa.
3-4-vuotiaat olivat pukeutuneet myös, ja sillä tunnilla oli kauniita prinsessoja hulmuavine helmoineen, kuten ikäkaudelle kuuluukin.
Koettiin myös yksi merkittävä hetki opettajan urallani taaperotanssi-ikäisten kanssa. Ensimmäistä kertaa jaoin osallistumistodistukset myös 1- 3-vuotiaiden ryhmässä, jossa käydään aikuisen kanssa.
Useissa tanssikouluissa 1-3-vuotiaiden tanssin opetus kuuluu taiteen perusopetuksen tanssin perusopetuksen laajaan opetussuunnitelmaan osana tanssin varhaisiän opintoja, mutta näin ei ole ollut kaikissa kouluissa aina.

Aloittaessani opettaa pienten tanssitunteja vuonna 2008, aikuinen-lapsitanssiryhmiä oli huomattavasti vähemmän tarjolla, ja koinkin olevani jonkinlainen "uranuurtaja".
Nyt aikuisen ja lapsen yhteiset tanssitunnit ovat luonteva osa tanssikoulujen arkea, samoin kuin muskarit ovat musiikkiopistoissa. Minulla on monia kollegoita, jotka työskentelevät tanssin varhaiskasvatuksen opettajina, ja oppilaita tuntuu riittävän.
Tämä kaikki tekee minut hyvin iloiseksi ja tunnen, että olen ollut osana muutosta tanssin opetuksen kentällä. Taaperotanssi - konsepti ei kuitenkaan ole valmis, vaan näen kehityssuuntia aikuisen ja lapsen yhteiselle tanssille. Osa niistä on jo toteutumassa uusien, nuorten opettajien kehitystyön tuloksena. Some groups of my toddlers´dance groups had their final spring term lesson last week. It happened to be one day before Labor Day, which is a big spring celebration in Finland. Children wore funny role costumes and they looked adorable while dancing. There were tiny leopards, elephants,a Minnie- mouse among other costumes. Also the 3-4-years old dancers had chosen costumes for themselves, and it was no surprise that there were many princesses twirling with their flowing gowns.
A significant moment was experienced when I had the honor to give the little students certifications of their participation. In Finland we have this special so called Basic Art Education system that defines the art education in different art schools all around Finland. Some years ago the 1-3-years old children dance classes were not understoodas a part of that Basic art education programm.
Now as there is more knowledge what toddlers´dance is and can be ( with spesific goals and methods), the attitudes have changed and we are happy to be part of that Art Education with certificates and all as well.
When I started to teach toddlers´dance in 2008 I felt quite alone in the dance field with few colleagues, but today there are many teachers and lots of litte dancers with their parents.
Adult - child dance lessons can be found in the time tables of almost all dance schools.
This all makes me very glad, and I feel that I have been a part of a change in the dance field here in Finland. But the concept of toddlers´dance is not ready yet . There are new directions and oppurtunities and discoveries to be made, and actually some of these new approaches are already in proggress by the new younger dance teachers. More about this soon...
