Keskustelu päivähoidon laadusta jatkuu - tällä kertaa radiohaastattelussa oli Marjatta Kalliala ( FT Helsingin yliopisto), joka oli sitä mieltä, että vanhemmat vievät lapsiaan päiväkotipäivän jälkeen harrastamaan, koska vanhemmat kompensoivat päiväkodeista puuttuvaa ohjattua toimintaa esim. taide- ja liikuntaharrastukset.

Tämä herätti minut pohtimaan omia taaperotanssiryhmiäni. On totta, että osa lapsista tulee aamulla tunnilleni vanhempansa kanssa, ja vasta sitten vanhempi vie lapsen päiväkotiin. Tunnen iloa, että aikuisen ja lapsen tanssitunti koetaan tärkeäksi niissäkin perheissä, joissa lapsi ei ole enää kotihoidossa.
Mutta olisi upeaa, jos me taideopettajat voisimme olla pysyvämpi osa päiväkotien arkea, jolloin lapset saisivat taideaineiden opetusta hoitopaikassaan. Tiedän, että jotkut tanssikoulut ja päiväkodit tekevät yhteistyötä juuri tällä tavalla esim. Vantaan tanssiopisto tekee yhteistyötä päiväkotien kanssa Vantaalla. Mutta paljon olisi vielä tehtävää... Mikä olisi se malli, että taideopettajat ja esimerkiksi päiväkodit löytäisivät toisensa paremmin?
Se on kuitenkin varmaan, että meidän taidekasvattajien on pidettävä opetuksemme laadullisesti korkeatasoisena joka tunnilla. Kuten Marjatta Kalliala sanoi:" varhaiskasvatuksessa laatu lunastetaan joka päivä"

Discussion about the quality of day care continues - this time Marjatta Kalliala (Helsinki University )shared her opinion that nowdays parents take their children to different hobbies after the day care day, because their children are not given the education for example in arts and sports, parents would like their children to have. This opinion woke me up to think about my own toddler´s dance groups. It it true that some of the parents come first to my dance class together and then take their child to the day care and go to work themselves.
I ´m glad that the dance class is considered important in those families where the childten are not in spendin their days at home any more.
But wouldn´t it be wonderful, if we the art teachers could be a more permanent part of the every day activities in the day care services? I´m aware that some dance schools co-operate with day care for example in Vantaa, that is already happening. But more could be done in general.. What would be the solution, that the day care services and art educators could find each other better?
One thing is sure; we, the teachers in art education must keep the quality of our teaching high in every class. As Ms Kalliala said: "in early education the quality must be earned every day"
