Hei!
Helsingin tanssiopiston taaperotanssitunnille keskiviikkoisin klo: 10.30-11.15 Kasarmintorin studioille Helsingin keskustaan. Ilmoittautumiset osoitteessa www.helsingintanssiopisto.fi .

Papula BOX tulossa...coming soon
Espoolainen tanssiryhmä Glims &Gloms on valmistamassa tanssiteoksen lapsille.
http://www.glimsgloms.com/papulabox.html
Ensi-ilta to 18.9 Kulttuurikeskuksessa Tapiolassa!
Glims&Gloms dance theatre placed in Espoo are creating a dance performance for children.
Papula BOX is for children over 3-years old and their families. It is easy going and fun full with colours, shapes, funny coinsicidence and even surprises.
There are never too many dance performances for children, so I do recommend to see this. There is a link above, take a look at the video and you´ll get in the mood...
I had a chance to see the stage rehearsal of Papula BOX last week. There were also children at the audience. At some point I noticed that I found myself observing the children reactions to the performance. They understood/ received the performance in a different way than we adults.
The dancers are very good, skillfull not only in their dance technique but in their ability to create a warm atmosphere on stage with sense of humour. The opening night will be on the 18th of September at the Culture center in Tapiola!

Taas tanssitaan! Let´s dance again!
Kuvassa on näyte Ernesto Navarro Polon perhoskokoelmasta ( Porin kirjasto), jonka näin kesäloman aikana.
It is the first week of the fall season in dance schools, although one might think we are still in the middle of the Holiday season as for the weather...
My own classes with toddlers begin on the first of September - hopefully families have found their way to the classes by then. I teach in two different dance schools in the capital area. I teach both toddlers dance ( child and adult together participating) and then the dance classes for three years old children. I thought it would be fun to share my experiences and ideas about teaching the little ones without their parents `present in the class. It is a different world, but so much fun for all of us as well.
There is a sample from a butterfly collection by Ernesto Navarro Polo I came by during last vacation at the library of Pori. I hope everybody had a wonderful summer, and you´ve seen lots of butterflies and little bugs . In the becoming classes we can dance these butterfly--and little bug dances! See you soon!

Hyvää kesää! Have a happy summer!

Kiitos kaikille pienille oppilailleni, aikuisille oppilailleni! On ollut ihanaa tanssia teidän kanssa!
Tässä "loppusiivouksessa" tuli vastaan youtubesta alla oleva linkki vuodelta 2008. Itselleni tuli ihan nostalginen olo!

Allekirjoittanut on siellä yksi opettajista. Lisää dacifinland.org
This time of the dance year is very pleasant for the dance teacher. The spring term ended, the dance students are on summer vacation, and the self evaluation of one´s work is about to be over . The flowers have faided away, but the drawings and cards form the children and their parents are now on display on the wall of my tiniest study. The past dance year goes thrugh my mind as I clean my desk for the future challenges.
My warmest thanks to my young students and my adult dancers! It has been deligthful to dance with all of you!
I found this clip on the YouTube while "cleaning". The clip is from the year 2008. I became almost
nostalgic!
and if some is interested in how to teach dance for children age 1-4 years, there is a short course coming up in August 2014. One of the teachers is the writer of this blog. read more dacifinlad.org

"Läiskytellen " " Let´s slosh"
Taaperoiden kevätnäytös on tanssittu!
Äidit eivät ainoastaan keskittyneet esiintymään itse, vaan he myös vastasivat lapsen ensimmäisestä näyttämökokemuksesta.
He elävät" täysillä hetkessä" - myös esityksessä.
The spring performance for toddlers is over! On a very hot Sunday the children and their parents danced a cooling dance called "Let´s slosh or Let´s splash the water".
The dance went very well, the dance forms and patterns and steps were excecuted with grace, and the children danced well along the adults. One of the toddlers wandered around at back of the stage first, but joined the others later on. The youngest of our performers took little pauses from the dance by stepping out to the curtains and was calmed down in her mother´s secure lap. The mothers handled the performing situation with utmost calm and with high spirits. So my greatest thanks go naturally to them - they are like a filter for their childrens´ new experience.
The mothers were not only concentrating in dancing by themselves, but also took responsibility for their child´s stage experience. This all requires ability to be present intensively and self control in an exceptional situation. The outsiders probably find this all easy and fun, but to be able go through the whole performing day takes time and preparation.
Once again I noticed the toddler age performers don´t need any dress rehearsal, because after they h danced the dance once they were ready to move on to the next exercise. Repeating the same thing again and again for the sake of practising is not a part of toddlers´thinking or behaviour .
The children still live in moment - also in performing situation.

Hyvää äitienpäivää tanssiville äideille! Happy Mothers` Day for all the dancing mothers!
Tämä äitienpäivä meni tanssin parissa, ohjaten isompia lapsia kevätnäytöksessä. Taaperoiden kevätnäytös on vasta tulossa, kuten aikaisemmin kerroin. Tanssin harjoittelu etenee mainiosti, onhan suurin osa taaperoiden vanhemmista itsekin tanssin harrastajia.
I spent this Mothers` Day at a dance performance with older dance students. The annual spiring show for toddlers is coming in two weeks. The performance practise goes really well, most of the toddlers´parents are dancing themselves as their hobby. All the steps are done in the right rhytm and the places are found and combinations are done smoothly. One can only say that the performance will be wonderful even from the traditonal point of view.
Last week we had a costume rehearsal, ja the dancers performed away from the mirror in the dance room, as is they were already on stage. We also did some last minute correction with the choreography. It truly is an artistic work in process...
I hope everybody had a nice Mothers´ Day today - perhaps some of you even danced a litte like myself.

Yritä, epäonnistu ja aloita taas uudelleen! So try, fail and start all over!
Tänä vuonna tehtävän sai ranskalainen hiphoptaustasta noussut tanssija-koreografi Mourad Merzouki, joka sanoo, että tanssi pelasti hänet.

Merzoukin omassa viestissään esille tuomat sanat " Yritä, epäonnistu ja aloita taas uudelleen!" sopivat meidän taaperotanssituntien tunnelmaan enemmän kuin hyvin.
Noverre had a significant effect on the development of ballet as an art form so choosing his birthday as a date for the International day of Dance is a very suitable choice. It has been celebrated since 1982 and each year a famous dancer of choreographer makes " declaration" of the Day. This year Mourad Merzouki was choosen for the task.
Watch the powerful performance link above.
His words " Try, fail and start all over !" are more than fit as for atmosphere in our toddler dance lessons.
